2 19–24 June 2005Scientific detector workshop 20052 What is WIRCam ? WIRCam is the next wide field IR camera for the CFH. 4 Hawaii 2RG IR detectors, 100 kg to be cooled using a CT1050 cryohead. A complete thermal model of the instrument (permanent and transient analysis) was used to assist the cryogenic design. The thermal model was done using the I-deas/TMG thermal module with FEA. The poster highlights the advantages of such a method for cryogenic cameras design and integration.

3 19–24 June 2005Scientific detector workshop 20053 Thermal modeling: transient analysis of the WIRCam cold finger cooling down. One image every 2 hrs

4 19–24 June 2005Scientific detector workshop 20054 Conclusions about thermal modeling The use of integrated software tools like I-deas helps to the mechanical and thermal design of cryogenic instruments. No translations. The use of integrated software tools like I-deas helps to the mechanical and thermal design of cryogenic instruments. No translations. Iterations model/measurements during system integration. Thermal model easy to modify and to adapt to un-complete systems, in order to fit the simulations with partial temperature measurements and to predict with more accuracy the system behavior on the telescope.
