4 2015/16 Tuition Fees:Capped at £9,000 with Access Agreement Maintenance Grant:Maintained at £3,387 Maintenance Loan:Home : £4,565 Increased by 3.34% Elsewhere: £5,740 London: £8,009 Tuition fee loan does not depend on household income 65% of maintenance loan does not depend on household income 35% of maintenance loan and all the maintenance grant are means tested STUDENT FINANCE PACKAGE

5 2015/16 Dependants Grants:Childcare Grant pays 85% of actual approved childcare costs up to maximum of: Increased by 3.34% £155.24 per week for one child £266.15 per week for two or more children Parents Learning Allowance max = £1,573 Adult Dependents Grant max = £2,757 STUDENT FINANCE PACKAGE

6 2015/16 Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) DSA amounts are maintained at 2014/15 levels: DISABLED STUDENTS ALLOWANCE Allowance Part-TimeFull-Time Non-medical personal helper £15,543£20,725 Per academic year Specialist equipment£5,212 Duration of Course Other disability-related expenditure £1,305£1,741 Per academic year Disability related travel No Limit – Reasonable spending can be claimed

7 2015/16 Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) Proposed changes to DSA policy: Broad rationale is to target the limited resource available to those students in most need of it Current system of DSA support has not been reviewed since 1995 and doesn’t take into account technological advances, increases in the use of technology or the introduction of the Equality Act 2010 DISABLED STUDENTS ALLOWANCE

8 2015/16 DSA funding will no longer be provided for: Entry Level computers (used only for web browsing, word processing, spreadsheets and the least technically demanding software) Higher specification or higher cost computers where they are required solely due to the way in which the course is delivered DSA funding will be provided for: Additional costs of a higher spec than entry level computer (£200) Complex Non Medical Helper Support Further Guidance due February 2015 DISABLED STUDENTS ALLOWANCE

9 2015/16 Apply Online Students APPLY on time We ASSESS their application They get PAID!

10 2015/16 SECTION 2 Please encourage the students you work with to apply on time! It will take at least six weeks to process an application so apply early The easiest way to apply is online at gov.uk/studentfinance* Students don’t need a confirmed place to apply Apply with their first choice, they can change details later if necessary Students can apply NOW!! The deadline is 31 st May 2015 STUDENT FINANCE APPLICATIONS KEY MESSAGE – APPLY EARLY i *Students wishing to study at alternative providers may need to wait until HEFCE approve the course designation before applying
