2 About Pala.. The promoters at Pala have a combined experience of more than 35 years in home décor. Focus is on “Continuous research and development”, because of which we achieved double digit growth over the past recession hit years. At Pala, the bond between humans and nature is very strong. We celebrate Humanity and strive to do whatever we can to enhance the quality of lives of the marginalised section of our society while taking equal care of our environment in a profitable manner. On products front, we believe in recycling whatever is possible e.g. mill wastes, cycle tubes, wrappers, fan belts, vegetable and fruit residues, grass, etc. and converting them into the most innovative upcycled range of yarns. Further these yarns get converted into our range of handbags, baskets, cushions, poufs and rugs. All our products are made from traditional techniques, skills and hand-based processes. Our products are recycled, craft based, contemporary, and affordable. We link over 500 craft based rural men and women to modern urban markets, thereby creating a base for skilled, sustainable rural employment, and preserving India's traditional handicrafts in the process. Besides providing them respectful wages, a lot of care goes in taking care of their overall health and family development through community lunch and subsidised education in our own not for profit school for their children. These act as our retainer ship tools and helps us command unparalleled respect as a just and fair employer among the weaver community. 2
