2 Mud: A mixture of a water, soil, silt and clay. It is essential material. 58% of buildings in India are made of mud and bricks. It is used in modern construction and its method is very difficult. Mud does not need much energy to manufacture. Mud is found in places which are relatively are dry.

6 COLOUR -Deep yellow, orange and red : good for building construction. -Greyish or dull brown : indicates organic soil. TOUCH & SMELL -soil that feels course when dry. -Sticky when contains lumps of clay. -Musty smell with organic matter.

16  Environmental impact  Using neither cement nor rock  To save natural resources.  To save building materials  Main materials are soil and water, mixed to be mud, if the mud is too sticky, we can add up with paddy husky or rice straw or local fiber weed or bamboo.  Energy use  To save energy  Cool in summer  Warm in Winter  Capital Expenditure  To save money.  No air – conditioning, no electricity bills.
