The objectives will be to calculate the field and self and mutual inductance. 3 phase winding in air, 100 turns each i A = 1  0° A i B = 1  120° A i C = 1  240° A WS03: Winding Editor

Define the “phase A” circuit as follows: a)Comprised of 1 coil b)100 turns c)Current flows into slot 1, out of slot 2 d)End geometry is an arc e)End clearance: 5 mm f)Radius in/out: 50 mm g)Cross section dimensions: 5 X 5 mm h)Declare the XYPlane to be the center plane (steps 4-6 at right) i)Click generate 1 2 3 4: Click in this box to activate the Apply/cancel buttons 5 6: Click Apply 7 WS03: Winding Editor

The 6 equally spaced slot locations are shown at right. Use the middle mouse button to rotate the geometry so that previously hidden surfaces face you, then add them to the selected set. Once all 3 surfaces are selected, click Apply. WS03: Winding Editor

You will at first find yourself looking at an opaque contour plot that hides the field quantities from view.
