9 Requirements to Become an Enrolled Agent Applicants must: Pass either the Special Enrollment Exam (SEE) or have specific employment experience with the IRS to be licensed Pass a background check

11 IRS Experience Can Substitute for the SEE The IRS employee must have five or more years of experience with the IRS IRS experience must be in a position that regularly interprets and applies the Tax Code
