2 Live the dream… Technologies of e-commerce Definition: The Hardware, Software and Networking required for an e-commerce system to be implemented. E-Commerce in business was made possible by the evolution of technologies such as the Internet and credit cards and this technology continues to improve. Using a combination of web hardware and software e-commerce has helped make businesses more effective and given them more functionality. With higher broadband speeds what could be a downside of a slow loading website?

5 Live the dream… Hardware & Software As with all computer systems, e-commerce consists of a collaboration of hardware and software .The software of both the web developer and the user need to be considered.

6 Live the dream… Web Servers The term web server can refer to either the hardware (the computer) or the software (the computer application) that helps to deliver web content that can be accessed through the Internet.

7 Live the dream… Browsers A computer program with a graphical user interface for displaying HTML files, used to navigate the World Wide Web. Browsers are installed on a user's computer and convert the data received via the modem into a visual web page. Homepages can be customised and are often set by default by the users ISP. Name a Web Browser? Browsers provide a visual interpretation of HTML and other web languages. HTML is the generic language in which all web pages are written and understood by all browsers. Web pages are linked together by hyperlinks, which can be presented as menus, buttons or images. Hyperlinks direct the browser to load a different page, allowing a user to move around the massive selection of web pages on the Internet.
