1 Welcome Seniors and Parents to the pre-graduation parent meeting for the Class of 2015

See Senior Information under the heading Students.

4 Graduation Date Change Graduation date has change to Wednesday, June 10th at 7:00 pm at DTE Energy Music Theater. Announcements: Balfour is working on printing inserts to go into the graduation announcements for those parents that had ordered them. Notification of pick up will be coming from Balfour. SANP will now be on Wednesday, June 10th at 11:00 pm until 5:00 am at Dave& Busters in Utica.

5 Still 12 School Weeks to Go: Expectations for the following weeks: –Grades: Required Classes –Attendance: Affects your academic performance 4 TH Term senior exam incentive –80% or higher, 3 or less absences, 3 or less tardies Great time in your life, but can be difficult –Excited, yet emotional. –“If it’s such a great time in my life, why doesn’t it feel that way?” –These feelings are normal! –Take it all in. Enjoy yourself, but keep it in perspective. –This is the end of one chapter, but the beginning of another!

6 Who are these students? The excitement of the times can cause seniors to act out of character. Keep making good decisions. Senior T-Shirts –Not a right of passage to make fun of younger classes –Unapproved shirts are not allowed!

7 –Prom Proposals No school disruptions or large public displays –Senior Pranks Vandalism to the building or any property on school grounds is a criminal act and will be prosecuted. Food fights or other school violations included. The Ceremony is a privilege not a right.

8 Fines & Financial Obligations Students need to be aware of all of the following financial requirements to graduate: –Book fines –Graduation fees –Uniforms still out Fine lists will be posted on the window in the main office the first week in May – continue to check for updates throughout the year! Students failing to resolve fines or other financial obligations will not participate in commencement exercises. Questions? Please contact Mrs. Middleton in the IRC-Media Center.

9 Graduation Cords Lake Orion graduates wear cords to indicate their GPA. Students with a GPA of: –3.3 – 3.699 are classified as Cum laude and wear green and white cords. –3.7 – 3.899 are classified as Magna cum laude and wear silver cords. –3.9 – 4.0 + are classified as Summa cum laude (the highest honor) and wear gold cords. (We do not round GPA’s)

10 Graduation Ceremony DTE Energy Music Theatre Wednesday, June 10, 2015 Doors open to the public at 5:30p.m. Visitors should be seated by 6:55p.m.

11 No Tickets Needed We are recommending that families limit their guest to 10 and under. This is to make sure all graduating families can have seats. First come, first serve. Families requiring more seats should have those guests sit on the lawn. Just before the ceremony begins, if there is extra seating in the pavilion, they will be able to move down to the pavilion seating.

12 Parking Graduates and Guests should use the main lots of DTE for parking. Those needing handicap spaces should follow the signs for handicapped parking. Parking lot staff can give you further instructions, if needed.

13 Graduation Day Graduates will assemble at 6:00 PM on the day of graduation and report along the walkway in their rows posted and meet the teacher who is reading their names to go over name pronunciations etc. and gather with their fellow graduates. From that point, they will begin their procession into the pavilion at 7:00 PM

14 Proper Attire MEN Dress slacks White shirt and tie Dress shoes and socks WOMEN Light-colored dress or skirt and blouse (dark colors can be seen through gown) Light-colored dress slacks are also acceptable Dress shoes or dress sandals What NOT to wear: No flip flops or athletic shoes Absolutely no sunglasses Graduates should not place signs or symbols on caps or gowns Any senior not properly dressed will be removed from the procession and not allowed to enter the pavilion.

15 Graduation Process Students will be seated in alphabetical order. Students will be called to the stage in rows by their faculty reader Students will then walk to the center of the stage and accept their diploma. They will then proceed across to the other set of stairs to receive their class flower and take another picture before returning to their assigned seat.

16 Appropriate Behavior Students and parents should refrain from yelling or screaming as the graduates cross the stage. Appropriate times to applaud are at the conclusion of each address and after the last graduate crosses the stage. PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL.

17 Pictures Pictures will be taken by a photography studio called Graduation Foto, aka The Picture Man. To ensure quality pictures: one will be taken as they receive their diploma and the second after they cross the stage before returning to their seats. The ceremony will be taped by ONTV, which is Cable Channel 10. –DVD copies will be available at a nominal fee.

18 Graduation Address Guidelines for the Graduation Address can be picked up in the main office beginning tomorrow. Students interested in auditioning for this honor must submit a copy of their speech to Mrs. Rosen by Friday, April 24 th at 3:00pm. Speeches should be approximately 3 minutes. Auditions will take place on a Wednesday morning. Selected students should plan on remaining after the initial graduation practice for microphone and sound checks.

21 Senior Exams – Thursday, May 28 & Friday, May 29 – (11:25 – 2:35 PM) Please note that Seniors will provide their own transportation on these days. Senior Academic & Honors Ceremony – by invitation Monday, June 1 at 6:30 pm (The Board of Education Lamp & Learning and Honors Ceremony) Junior/Senior Prom Friday, June 5 - Palazzo Grande Banquet Center 6:30 – 10:30 pm Graduation Rehearsal - DTE Energy Music Theatre Monday, June 8 – 10:00 a.m.

22 Graduation Wednesday, June 10 th at 7:00 p.m. – DTE Energy Music Theatre Senior All Night Party Wednesday, June 10 th at 11:00 pm until 5:00 am – Dave & Busters in Utica 2015 Senior DVD Order deadline is Friday, June 12 th, 2015 Senior DVD Available for Pick Up on Monday, June 22, 2015
