2 Required activities of Coasting TF (after IWG#8)  Review / define calculation methodology in detail –Review calculation concept, generic and vehicle parameters, bandwidth, … –Time resolved CO2 measurement alternatives (look at correlation exercise) –Solve: double CO2 benefit  normal test operation (criteria pollutants)  Plan for additional tests to determine Coasting Time Share –Define quality criteria for drivers, road & traffic, … –Review & learn from existing coast data –Define vehicles for additional tests –Define test plan, resources and perform tests  Validation 2 0% 30% done IWG#8 decision: Calculation based WLTP Coast Procedure, No supplemental test

3 Recommendations  Due to insufficient progress because of: –Fundamental discussions on “cycle modification” –Ongoing discussions for the correct place ( WLTP  Eco Inno) –No proposal met everyone's interest  … the TF is running out of time !!! Consequently a decision is required on: 1.Delay Coasting deliverables in Phase 2, but keep on working 2.Cancel Coasting TF and restart if/when applicable 3.Keep Phase1 timing but invest more and better focused resource 3 X

4 Concerns from Japan 4 1. Accuracy of modal CO2 measurement. Need test equipment requirements. 2. Additional testing burden, since criteria pollutants must evaluated with normal operation mode (i.e. coasting enabled). 3. For hybrid vehicle, need to avoid double CO2 benefit by regeneration during testing with coasting disabled. 4. CTS must reflect real world time share for each model, each technology and each region (e.g. Auto/Manual/Hybrid/weight/Roadload/N V ratio/ future technology/ etc..). These data is not currently available and need huge effort to obtain. 5. Increasing power threshold until predetermined CTS reached is basically modifying WLTC cycle. It should not be allowed to subtract CO2 at driving condition where coasting is not possible in real world. 6. Add more parameters for limitation to take real operation condition into account. (e.g. temperature, braking)

Coasting in WLTP/Bosch Proposal Gasoline Systems Key Premises  The original task of a vehicle is to transport something/someone from point A to point B taking a specific route  The original task is not to follow a predefined speed profile on a vehicle dyno!  Bosch investigated the coasting technology Demo-vehicles on the FKFS route showed a CO2-benefit for coasting On average 10%: traffic, driver, operating strategy, vehicle, topology, …. Availability of coasting technology on a vehicle changes the driving behaviour/pattern  The Bosch proposal aims To fairly give CO2-credit to coasting vehicles in the magnitude that was found from real life driving (For Bosch represented by FKFS route) To use a data postprocessing methodology i.e. identify operating conditions where coasting would likely happen and correct fc correspondingly Not to construct a representative coasting profile from a non coasting WLTC 5
