2 FIRST-PERSON POINT-OF-VIEW The use of I, me, we A character directly involved in the story. EXAMPLE: Life of Pi is from a first-person point-of-view because…PI TELLS HIS OWN STORY. THE WRITER IS ALSO NARRATING PI’S STORY (WRITER IS WITH ADULT PI).

3 THIRD PERSON LIMITED Definition: A narrator whose knowledge is limited to one character, either major or minor. EXAMPLE: Fahrenheit 451 is from a third-person limited point-of-view because…ONLY MONTAG’S PERSPECTIVE IS NARRATED.

4 THIRD-PERSON OMNISCIENT The omniscient narrator knows everything, may reveal the motivations, thoughts and feelings of the characters, and gives the reader information. Example: The Harry Potter series is in third-person omniscient because…THE NARRATOR SHOWS OTHER CHARACTER’S EXPERIENCES.

5 THIRD-PERSON OBJECTIVE The objective point of view presents the action and the characters' speech, without comment or emotion. The reader has to interpret the text and uncover their meaning. EXAMPLE: Most news articles are in third- person objective because….THERE ARE ONLY FACTS, NO INTERPRETATION.
