Nairobi’s geographical coordinates are 1°16'S latitude and 36°48'E longitude.  Kenya is in Eastern Africa and it borders the Indian Ocean between Somalia and Tanzania. 4 Kenya’s People  Most of Kenya’s people live in the northern part of Kenya because the climate is cooler there than in the southern part.  Although it is cooler in the northern part of Kenya, people still have to dress light because of its hot climate.

5 Chief Exports and Imports Kenya has many chief exports such as cotton apparel, unprocessed coffee beans, tea, spices, tobacco, vehicle parts, and fish. Some of the imports that Kenya receives are civilian aircraft, wheat, fuel oil, chemical fertilizers, and railway transportation equipment.

6 Kenya as a Colony  Kenya was a colony in 1920.  The East Africa Protectorate was turned into a colony and renamed Kenya for its highest mountain.  Kenya became a crown colony in 1920.  Kenya achieved independence in 1963.

7 Popular Travel Destinations  Kenya has many popular travel destinations.  Kenya’s most popular travel destinations include the Masai Mara, (the most popular wildlife park in Kenya), Lake Nakuru National Park, Mount Kenya, and Lake Turkana.

8 Climate  Kenya has a tropical climate.  Kenya is hot and humid in the coast and very dry in the north part of the country.  There is sunshine all year round and rain comes the most from April to June. 9 Climate affects  Kenya’s climate doesn’t usually affect where most people live, but it does affect the food they eat, the clothes they wear, and their jobs.  Because Kenya’s climate is warm all year round, most people there wear light clothing with light colors.  The warm climate also allows people to work as farmers or constructers all year long.  Kenya’s climate also allows farming to happen year round, so many people in Kenya eat a lot of vegetables that they grow. 10 Borders  There are many countries that border Kenya such as Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda.  Some of the major bodies of water that border Kenya are Lake Victoria, Lake Turkana, and the Indian Ocean.
