3 Calculations Used a simple 1-D wall for calculations The radiation was neglected to see what would be required if radiation didn’t play a role Assumed the thickness (L) and heat flux were equivalent for both materials

5 Conclusions The aluminum temperature is almost exactly the same as the food, so the oven only needs to be at the same temperature. The required temperature on the outside of the glass grew rapidly with increased thickness. Fact: Food cooks just as quick in glass as metal. The effect of radiation is great when you are cooking with glass.
