5 Indian National Congress Began to demand more self-rule in 1892 Divided between the Garam Dal (Hot Faction) who wanted independence and the Naram Dal (Soft Faction), who advocated dominion status. Britain's need for Indian soldiers strengthened INC’s position. 1906-Mulsim League Established 1916--Lucknow Pact. The Congress and the League unite in demand for greater self- government. It is denied by the British.
