3. 3 Population Census History of Mongolia During the 20 th century Mongolia has conducted nine population censuses in 1918, 1935, 1944, 1956, 1963, 1969, 1979, 1989 and 2000 1969, 1979 and 1989 censuses were developed in accordance with methodologies recommended by Commission of Economic Mutual Assistance for socialist countries. Main features of these censuses: Population censuses and housing censuses were conducted together UN recommendation on periodicity
