May 5, 2005 AFC Module Meeting AFC Window Measurements Page 1 Window Measurement Summary Non-contact Vision machine measurements of good window complete at LBNL Data has been analyzed and results sent to Wing Lau Window sent to U. Miss. for alternate measurement technique Data from all measurements to be compared upon completion

May 5, 2005 AFC Module Meeting AFC Window Measurements Page 2 Vision Machine Measurement Damaged AFC module window being measured on Vision machine

May 5, 2005 AFC Module Meeting AFC Window Measurements Page 3 Measurement Description Good window profile measured on both sides using non-contact Vision machine Measurements taken along 24 radial sections spaced at 15 degrees apart Both a medium and a high magnification lens used High magnification data found to be better Data taken in 1 mm radial increments from 0-84 mm Radial extent limited by lens interference with window frame

May 5, 2005 AFC Module Meeting AFC Window Measurements Page 4 Results Summary Data was analyzed for asymmetry and average thickness Comparison to the window design profile was carried out Measurement accuracy affected by window slope Scatter in thickness results caused by subtraction of two profile measurements Any apparent asymmetry could be actual or caused by misalignment of two separate reference systems

Measurements Light-contact measurement method previously developed for determining center thickness Original micrometer fixture touches window on opposite surfaces at window center Initial contact determined by electrical continuity Fixture is being adapted to hold window at an angle for off-center measurements Measurements to be made in 25 mm radial increments spaced every 90 deg circumferentially
