1 1 Polygons and diagonals Using Higher Order Questioning in the classroom Polygons and diagonals Petros Drimilis I chοse this session topic because I believe that questions help the teacher to discover what students know, what students do not know and to advance, challenge and motivate students. I planned the following activities with the other teachers of sixth grade

2 2 Connections with Colleagues I presented my activities to all sixth grade teachers. We discussed the activities with the others sixth grade teachers and we made all the necessary changes.

3 3Successes Provoked the interest of the students Realize students prior knowledge Analysis:Break whole into parts Synthesis: replace parts together to form a new whole Critical thought Evaluation: Using a set of criteria, established by the students to arrive at a reasoned judgment.

5 5 Next Steps Implement this practice to other mathematical issues Involve all students in the procedure Using higher order questioning in other subject areas Help students to promote critical thinking Share this experience with other teachers and encourage them to implement a similar teaching method
