2. 11/15/99Norm Herr (sample file) Seeing patterns in the sky: Using Stellarium Stellarium, planetarium software available to download from http://www.stellarium.org/.http://www.stellarium.org/ 1.Open Stellarium. 2.Go down to the horizontal menu bar on the bottom left of the Stellarium window and click the button for the configuration window (a button with a wrench icon). 3.Now select the location tab and you can use the map there to select either Dublin or Shannon.

4. 11/15/99Norm Herr (sample file) Turn off the atmosphere by clicking the icon showing a landscape in the menu bar ( the sky will appear dark as if it were night, even though the Sun is up). Click the first three buttons on the left of the menu bar which will overlay a line drawing of the constellations, place name labels on the constellations and an overlay of constellation art on the sky respectively. Experiment with the programme and find Venus, the Plough, Polaris, Pegasus etc

Posters, computer presentation, etc. –Judging will be based on the scheme on the handout.
