2 Types of Programs 1. Local Certificate 2 – 17 units 3. New State Approved Certificate 12 – 17 units 2. State Approved Certificate 18+ units

3 1. Local Certificate 2 – 17 units The approval process for local certificates is the same as course approval. Originator College Discipline For Review If comments, returned to originator College Discipline For Vote College Department For Vote District Technical Review Committee College Curriculum Committee For Vote District Curriculum Committee For Information

State Approved Certificate 18+ units Phase A – Concept Development: Step 1: Educational Program Concept Initiation Step 2:Concept Development – Department Approval and Discipline Consultation Step 3: Campus Academic Planning Council Review Step 4: Research Step 5: Campus Academic Senate Step 6: Campus Strategic Planning Committee Review

5 1. State Approved Certificate 18+ units Phase B – District Review: Step 7: District Academic Planning Council Review Step 8: District Strategic Planning Executive Committee Review

State Approved Certificate 18+ units Phase C – Curriculum and Program Development: Step 9: Curriculum Development Step 9 should result in a complete program proposal, course proposal forms, and other supporting documentation. This proposal, the Application for Approval (C) or (D) with signatures, the Concept Form (A) and Signature Sheet (B) should be submitted to the Curriculum Committee Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs for review and approval signature. Step 9 should result in a complete program proposal, course proposal forms, and other supporting documentation required by the Chancellor’s Office and the District Curriculum Committee. This proposal, the Application for Approval (C) or (D) with signatures, the Concept Form (A) and Signature Sheet (B) should be submitted to the Curriculum Committee and to the Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs for review and approval signature. This completes Step 9 and Phase C.

State Approved Certificate 18+ units Phase D – Approval Process: Step 10: Regional Occupational Consortium and Recommendation by the College Academic Senate Step 11: Recommendation by the District Academic Senate Step 12: Recommendation by the President/Chancellor Step 13: Approval by the Board of Trustees Step 14: Submission to CCC Chancellor’s Office
