St. Clement of Alexandria believes that the Holy Book mentioned the number of servants, who fought together with Abram as 318, for a certain reason: The figure 300 in Greek start with the letter (Yota), a symbol of the sign of Jesus Christ; and the figure 18 with (Ita), that refers to the name of the Savior; as though those servants who fought together with Abram, were those who enjoyed the salvation of our Lord Jesus, who resorted to His sign and name.

Why trials? God’s trials and there benefit. How did Abram benefit from the trail. The situation Between Abram and Lot. God’s promise to Abram The Captivity of Lot. Abram to save him Abram’s refusal to accept any reward from the King of Sodom Lot’s position.

John 8:56-59 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad." 57 Then the Jews said to Him, "You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?" 58 Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM." 59 Then they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by. NKJV

Melchiz'edek (Hebrews Malki'-Tse'dek) king of righteousness, i.e. righteous king, the "priest of the most high God," and king of Salem, who went forth to meet Abraham on his return from the pursuit of Chedorlaomer and his allies,

Salem Shalem (shaw-lame') peaceful; Shalem, an early name of Jerusalem:

Most High ‘Elyown (el-yone'); an elevation, i.e. (adj.) lofty (compar.); as title, the Supreme:

Zech 6:12-13 "Behold, the Man whose name is the BRANCH! From His place He shall branch out, And He shall build the temple of the LORD; 13 Yes, He shall build the temple of the LORD. He shall bear the glory, And shall sit and rule on His throne; So He shall be a priest on His throne, And the counsel of peace shall be between them both."' NKJV

Ps 110:4 4 The LORD has sworn And will not relent, "You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek." Heb 6:19-20 20 where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.

Hebrew 6:20 – 7 Melchizedek, being the symbol of the Lord Christ, surpassed the person of Abram who had in him the priesthood of Levi. Job 1:4-5 4 And his sons would go and feast in their houses, each on his appointed day, and would send and invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. 5 So it was, when the days of feasting had run their course, that Job would send and sanctify them, and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, "It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts." Thus Job did regularly.

Righteousness The quality of being right morally. The righteousness of God is the essential perfection of his nature, and is frequently used to designate his holiness, justice, and faithfulness (Gen 18:25; Deut 6:25; Ps 31:1; 119:137,142; Isa 45:23; 46:13; 51:5-8; 56:1). The righteousness of Christ denotes not only his absolute perfection (Isa 51:11; 1 John 2:1; Acts 3:14), but is taken for his perfect obedience unto death as the sacrifice for the sin of the world (Dan 9:24; Rom 3:25,26; 5:18,19; Jer 23:6; John 1:29). 12 The righteousness of the law is that obedience which the law requires (Rom 3:10,20; 8:4). The righteousness of faith is the justification which is received by faith (Rom 3:21-28; 4:3-25; 5:1-11; 10:6-11; 2 Cor 5:21; Gal 2:21). Righteousness is sometimes used for uprightness and just dealing between man and man (Isa 60:17), also for holiness of life and conversation (Dan 4:27; Luke 1:6; Rom 14:17; Eph 5:9).

The saints have a threefold righteousness: Righteousness (1.)The righteousness of their persons, as in Christ, his merit being imputed to them, and they accepted on the account thereof (2 Cor 5:21; Eph 5:27; Isa 45:24); (2.)The righteousness of their principles, being derived from, and formed according to, the rule of right (Ps 119:11); (3.)The righteousness of their lives, produced by the sanctifying influence of the Holy Spirit, without which no man shall see the Lord (Heb 13:24; 1 Cor 6:11)

St. Ambrosius stated that Melchizedek has been a holy man and a Priest, a symbol of our Lord Jesus Christ; and was not an angel as claimed by some Jews. We shall concisely present a correlation between the Lord Christ and Melchizedek: A- Concerning the name, ‘Melchizedek’ means (King of righteousness) (Romans 3). B- Concerning work, “the king of Salem” means (King of Peace) (John 16).

C- He has been a King and Priest at the same time, something that can not be realized for the Jews: for whom the kings were from the tribe of Judah, while the Priesthood was from the tribe of Levi. In Christ Jesus, both were realized. D- The offer of Melchizedek was individual in nature, referring to the sacrifice of the Lord Christ. E- We know nothing of his father or mother; His kingdom has no beginning or end referring to the Lord Christ, who is with no carnal father, and no mother -- Divinity wise; with no beginning of days -- eternal.

F- The Lord Christ came a Priest according to the order of Melchizedek; as though the Levitic priesthood came to an end, to be replaced by a new priesthood. G- Abram, Who had in him, Levi who collects the tithes, presents the tithes to Melchizedek the symbol of the Lord Christ. What would be the symbol compared to the symbolized ?

Kings And Priests Rev 1:5-6 To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, 6 and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 2:5 5 you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ
