2 I taught Mrs. C. Williams’ fourth grade class at Carmichael Elementary School. I taught Mrs. C. Williams’ fourth grade class at Carmichael Elementary School. I constructed a giant cell by using the students. I constructed a giant cell by using the students. They all learned the following terms: nucleus, mitochondrion, and membrane receptors. They all learned the following terms: nucleus, mitochondrion, and membrane receptors.

3 I choose volunteers from the class to be the various cell parts and they had the name of them taped to their shirts. I choose volunteers from the class to be the various cell parts and they had the name of them taped to their shirts. I explained to them that the cell is like a little city; that all parts talk to each other and depend on each other. I explained to them that the cell is like a little city; that all parts talk to each other and depend on each other. The children that were left over joined hands to form a circle which became the Cell Membrane or skin of the cell. They held the cell together. 4 From here the Membrane Receptors joined at various positions around the circle. From here the Membrane Receptors joined at various positions around the circle. They were the eyes and ears of of the cell. They gathered information and took it to the nucleus. They were the eyes and ears of of the cell. They gathered information and took it to the nucleus. The nucleus was positioned in the center of the cell. The students were told that she was the cell’s brain. The nucleus tells the cell what to do just like their parents. 5 All the Mitochondria walked on the inside of the cell and around the nucleus. They supplied energy to the cell. All the Mitochondria walked on the inside of the cell and around the nucleus. The mitochondria was referred to as “MIGHTY.” The mitochondria was referred to as “MIGHTY.” I told the children that the cell they just made does the same thing in their own bodies. When we were done I gave the children coloring sheets of an animal cell and a plant cell, which they enjoyed very much.
