4 Definition of “The Grid” Parallel Programming: 2 or more working entities for a better performance Co-ordinated, transparent and secure sharing of IT resources, high-end computers, networks, databases, and scientific instruments across geographically distributed sites. Grids are built on standards-based interoperability to deliver integrated solutions that allow virtual collaboration. An analogy with the electric power grid (Electric power is ubiquitous)
