2 Program Objective To cultivate and promote a culture of volunteer service. To recognize individuals who share their time and energy with their community and their world. To reinforce our values and our motto of Service Above Self. To help our local communities understand the contributions made by individual Rotarians. PHSF 08072

3 Program Description PHSF 08073 The Paul Harris Service Fellowship recognizes volunteer contributions of those who make a difference in local communities and those around the world. Rotary Recognition –The Rotary Paul Harris Fellowship recognizes people for their financial gifts –The Rotary Paul Harris Service Fellowship recognizes people for their gifts of self.

4 How It Works Each club creates a process by which their members can record their own service hours or those of others. The club reports the hours for each individual to District 5240 on a monthly basis using a form provided by the District. The District Governor receives a report of members who have attained Paul Harris Service Fellowship status and the total volunteer service hours of each club. PHSF 08074

5 Service Hour Credit You receive service hour credit for –Time given to any of the Rotary Avenues of Service in support of your Club, District or Rotary International –Time given in support of projects outside of Rotary that contribute to the improvement of your local community –Time given in support of national or international projects outside of Rotary that improve global quality of life THE PHSF Program operates in accordance with the four way test. 6 Some Exclusions Rotary participation not directly related to providing service, such as club meetings and club social events. Activities that are limited in nature to the advocacy of a particular point of view, such as a political party. The club has wide discretion in determining what is included and/or excluded. 7 Individual Recognition PHSF 08077 Bronze Recognition -- 250 service hours* Silver Recognition -- 500 service hours* Gold Recognition -- 1000 service hours* Additional hours in increments of 1000 hours of service are recognized by jeweled gold pins * Service hours are cumulative from year to year

9 Club Recognition A club becomes a PHSF Club if –The club achieves a minimum of 100 volunteer hours per member in a single Rotary Year, and –Each member reports at least 10 hours of volunteer service in that Rotary Year. PHSF 08079
