3 Training of the Trainers Workshop One of the important ongoing agenda of the NCC The shortage of well-trained trainers who can effectively teach variety of available electronic resources The training of the trainers is absolutely necessary

4 The Fund Application to the Japan Foundation Summer of 2003: Started preparing the fund application for the Training of the Trainers Workshop. Ms. Emily Werrell, Coordinator, Library Instruction & Outreach, Duke University was introduced by Kris Troost, Chair of the UTTF, to the NCC.

5 Train the Trainers Committee To assist in writing the proposal and to plan for the workshop Members Co-chaired by NCC Chairs, Toshie Marra and Sachié Noguchi Sharon Domier Ellen Hammond Kris Troost Emily Werrell (as advisor)

6 Survey : EARLY OCTOBER To gather the information for the workshop from the field The questionnaire posted to eastlib Asked potential trainees: - interest in and financing to participate in the workshop - instruction they provide, - databases (English and/or Japanese) they teach, they wish to learn, they can demonstrate.

7 What This Workshop Means Continues the NCC’s series of training efforts Will develop a group of librarians specifically trained in instruction in digital information Will also develop a regional network to co-sponsor digital training to assist scholars and students.

8 If the Proposal is Funded A small planning conference in Spring The committee members, lead instructors and other specialist provide advice for the project Will finalize curricular components, etc.

9 Proposed Venues UCLC in August 2004 Duke in January 2005
