Collection Cycle Responsible for Collection Classics: To promote greater employment of Classics graduates. #5 To construct partnerships with relevant external constituencies which enrich the education of our students while enhancing the quality of life for the people of the region, the state, the nation and beyond. #3 To build partnerships and collaborations between the university and external entities that contribute to the enrichment of society in the region, the state and beyond. Criterion # 5 Engagement and service. Core component 5a The organization learns from the constituencies it serves and analyzes its capacity to serve their needs and expectations. Core component 5b Increase number of students applying for graduate school. Increase the number of classics graduates employed as high school teachers. Collect data on number of students applying for and who were accepted into graduate school. Collect data on number of students applying for and who were accepted into high school teaching positions. Criterion #2 Preparing for the future. Core component 2a The organization realistically prepares for a future shaped by multiple societal and economic trends. Hire a faculty that is racially diverse. Work with the Office of Multicultural Affairs to research candidates through diversity pool resources. Advertise positions in alternate publications. Write job description broadly in order to accommodate diverse candidates that may apply. Actively recruit diverse candidates from Ph.D. programs. Write job description to include ABD candidates. Collect data from HR on diversity of applicant pool. Compare departmental diversity figures with the last three years data. Collection Cycle Responsible for Collection Classic: To maintain a state of the art classics curriculum. #4 To build and sustain an atmosphere of inquiry, integrity, engagement, curiosity and creativity among students, staff and faculty. Goal #2 To create a broad educational experience that is guided by a philosophy supporting liberal education in all academic programs. Goal #5 To encourage a vibrant campus culture that fosters an atmosphere of inquiry and learning in all campus settings. Criterion #3 Student learning and effective teaching. Core Component 3c The organization creates effective learning environments. Criterion #4 Acquisition, discovery, and application of knowledge. Core Component 4c The org. assesses the usefulness of its curricula to students who will live and work in a global, diverse, and technological society. Faculty will review core classics curriculum. Convene department curriculum committee to compare course offerings with aspirant Classics departments offerings. Peer evaluation by external reviewer in the field of Classics. Identify aspirant Classics departments. 6 General Education Program Outcome  Goal: The {insert unit name} will assist the General Education Subcommittee in assessing General Education student learning outcomes.  Objective 1: The {insert unit name}will identify member(s) to serve on General Education Peer Groups for the purpose of assessing student learning outcomes.  Objective 2: The {insert unit name} will assist the General Education Subcommittee in collecting assessment data from students in General Education courses.  Objective 3: The {insert unit name} will review and respond to the General Education Subcommittee about suggestions for improvements, if any are identified by the Peer Group or the General Education Subcommittee.
