1 April 19, 2005 Optimization of FF for 2mrad IR: with FD optimized for 2mrad extraction Very preliminary A.Seryi April 19, 2005

2 Optimization of 2mrad extraction and FD of incoming beam is performed simultaneously (shown is March 4 version of 2mrad) For fast calculations, the incoming FF is represented by simplified optics: FD, long drift and two upstream bends, to match  =0 and  ’=-0.0094 Parameters of FD determined from such optimization, need to be used for FF, and the complete FF need to be retuned

3 April 19, 2005 Parameters of FD determined from 2mrad extraction design were used in ILCFF9, and the FF optics then was re-matched (optimization not quite finished)

4 April 19, 2005 FD parameters resulted from 2mrad extraction optimization: FD parameters after FF was rematched: These two sets are very close (<1% for quads, <4% for sextupoles) Thus, using simplified FF in 2mrad extraction is justified KQD0_GOAL= -0.065589547037 KSD0_GOAL= 0.603754990865 KQF1_GOAL= 0.026527870063 KSF1_GOAL= -0.290739466531 KQD0= -0.06565105483 KSD0= 0.590192865278 KQF1= 0.02673616091 KSF1= -0.277850825337 KQD0_GOAL/KQD0= 0.999063110367 KSD0_GOAL/KSD0= 1.022979141879 KQF1_GOAL/KQF1= 0.99220939582 KSF1_GOAL/KSF1= 1.046386909875

5 April 19, 2005 Optimization of this FF just started, bandwidth is still not very good Still, the FF can be used, e.g., to approximately determine the collimation depth before optimization after (incomplete) optimization  E =0.07%

6 April 19, 2005 Discussion Parameters of FD, obtained in extraction line optimization, were used to reoptimize the FF FD strength obtained from matching of full FF is very similar to the result of simplified procedure BDS for 2mrad, currently ILCFF2MRD3, is not yet fully optimized, but can already be used for example for –linear study of collimation depth requirements which will be tighter, due to longer FD and larger beta-functions in FD –other studies which require racking (e.g. beam halo) should wait until the FF will be better optimized
