2 Seven Deadly Sins History Pope Gregory the Great described the sins in his Moralia in Job Battles between virtues and vice Sins that are merited to damnation Fatal effect on an individual’s spiritual health Seven is the greatest religious significance in ancient Judaism Completeness and Perfection

3 Pride Excessive belief in one’s own abilities, that interferes with the individual’s recognition of the grace of God. It has been called the sin which all others arise. Is also known as Vanity Punishment –Be broken on the wheel Horse & Violet Humanity

4 Envy Desire of others’ traits, status, abilities, or situation Punishment –You will be put in freezing water Dog & Green Love

5 Gluttony An inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires Punishment –Be forced-fed rats, toads, and snakes Pig & Orange Faith and Temperance

6 Lust An ordinate craving for the pleasures of the body Punishment –Be smothered in fire and brimstone not kisses Cow & Blue Self Control

7 Anger Manifested in the individual who spurns love and opts instead for fury Also known as Wrath Punishment –You will be dismembered alive Bear & Red Kindness

8 Greed Desire for material wealth or gain, ignoring the realm of the spiritual Also known as Avarice or Covetousness Punishment –Boiled alive in oil. Bear in mind that it’s the finest, most luxurious boiling oil that money can buy, but it’s still boiling Frog & Yellow Generosity

9 Sloth Avoidance of physical or spiritual work Punishment –Thrown into snake pits Goat (Goatfish) & Light Blue Zeal
