2 First generation college student: a college student who comes from a family where neither parent has a college degree. First generation college student: a college student who comes from a family where neither parent has a college degree.

3 Demographic Characteristics First generation students are more likely than non- first generation to have the following characteristics:  To be age 24 or older  To have lower family incomes  To be married  To live off campus  Work full time while enrolled
