2 Abstract המעבדה למערכות ספרתיות מהירות High speed digital systems laboratory 2 During the last few years interest in Access Control systems has being dramatically increasing. The goal of this project was to build a node element of such a system that would be capable of running a local state machine and lessen a load of the server which would be able to control a large area covered with 100 or more nodes.

3 System description המעבדה למערכות ספרתיות מהירות High speed digital systems laboratory 3 The node element built during this project is controlled by MCU (pic18f458) and uses the additional controller built on ALTERA FPGA EPM3064A. It is connected to the server through CAN 2.0B protocol (physical layer) and communicates through CANOpen(SDO-only) protocol. The card has some jumpers and LED’s onboard, peripheral hardware like Door Locker, Magnetic Reader and programming hardware like ICD2 for PIC or BB cable for ALTERA connected to the card.
