2 Who is Responsible? Teachers, Students, Parents and Employers are all responsible for a successful SAE. SAEs should be carefully planned with the student, teacher, parent and employer Everyone has an important role to play in a SAE

3 Role of Agriscience Teachers Identify possible SAEs in the community Ensure meaningful learning activities that benefit the student and the community Provide classroom instruction on SAE Explain record keeping systems

4 Role of Agriscience Teachers Explain the purpose of SAEs to employers and parents Assist students in planning SAEs that fit their needs Visit each program frequently Provide supervision Evaluate and encourage to improve SAEs

5 Role of Students Study and understand the purpose of SAEs Plan programs that have a meaningful and educational outcomes Keep accurate and honest records that were established in an agreement Utilize assistance from teachers, parents and employers

6 Role of Students Use approved and safe practices in SAEs Work to improve their SAE Provide accurate reports to teachers and students Apply for recognition from the FFA

7 Role of Parents Assist student in selecting and planning appropriate SAE Provide encouragement to the student Ensure a safe environment for a home- based SAE Permit the student to adopt and implement new technology

8 Role of Parents Assist the agriculture teacher in motivating students to develop desirable work habits Permit the student to learn about money management by assuming financial risk Assist in keeping complete and accurate records

9 Role of Parents Assist the teacher in making an accurate evaluation of the the SAE program Understand the concept and purpose of an SAE Carryout any responsibilities outlined in the SAE agreement

10 Role of Employers Provide a safe working environment for the student Provide the student to learn meaningful skills Inform the teacher of any problems resulting from the student Allow the student to assume more responsibilities as time passes

11 Role of Employers Provide the teacher with assessment of the student Provide supervision of the student Understand the purpose of successful SAEs Portray an acceptable model for the student

12 Role of Employers Instruct the student in carrying out occupational related tasks Abide by all legal requirements Carryout all the responsibilities in the SAE agreement

13 Possible Outcomes If students develop a successful SAE, their experiences can lead them on a career path You can tell what kind of a teacher a person is by the type of SAEs that his or her students have
