9 Computer Networks Interconnected computer devices that work together and share information with each other, for example: –Local Area Network (LAN) –Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) –Wide Area Network (WAN) –Global Area Network (GAN) –Value-Added Network (VAN)

10 Internet Tools and path to connect to global network –Internet technology –Internet economy –E-commerce –Dot-com

11 Computing Computer and Peripheral devices: desktop computer, notebook, hand-held computer, printer, scanner, etc. Operating Systems: manage the execution of application programs and data flow among hardware devices – Windows XP, Windows 2000, Unix, etc.

12 Computing Programming Languages: instruction to carry out the execution of application – C++, Visual Basic, Java Data Management: system to store, retrieve, and manage data used in business – Oracle, Access, MS SQL Development Tools: software used to develop other application software – MS FrontPage, Dreamweaver, Visible Analyst
