2 Principal of Superposition
Two conditions must be met Loading must be linearly related to stress or displacement that is to be determined. The loading must not change the original geometry significantly.

3 Principle of Superposition
By subdividing the loading into components, the principle of superposition states: The resultant stress or displacement at a point can be determined by first finding the stress or displacement caused by each load acting separately on the member. The resultant stress or displacement is then determined by algebraically adding the contributions of the components.
