CLAF Summer School 2007 1 Ideas extracted from the CP-Violation and B-physics lectures given by Prof. R. Fleisher at CERN – CLAF School of High Energy Physics Val Paraiso - Chile - 2007

CLAF Summer School 2007 2 The (scientific) program 5 lectures: The Standard Model – A. Pich 3 lectures CP-Violation/Flavor Physics – R. Fleisher Beyond the Standard Model – C. Wagner Heavy Ions – U. Wiedemann Higgs Physics – P. Zerwas Neutrino Physics – G.Barenboim QCD – B. Kopeliovich  CMB – J. Ellis Astrophysics – F. Mirabel 2 lectures Instrumentation – G. Mikenberg 1 lecture Pierre Auger Experiment – M. T. Dova The Cern Program – J. Ellis

CLAF Summer School 2007 3 Robert FLEISCHER CERN robert.fleischer@cern.ch Fields of interest: - Phenomenology of the Standard Model and its extensions. - Flavour Physics and CP violation. - Weak decays, in particular of B and K mesons. Lecture: - well organized - tons of documentation links - … I copied his slides for my talk. (only this collor is my contribution )

CLAF Summer School 2007 4 As the lecturer is a theorist: a bit more attention given to the theoretical problems i.e. hadronic uncertainties. I never spent much time on this subject in the framework of CP- violation. Now a good moment to do so…

CLAF Summer School 2007 11 fB: - important in BB mixing and Very rare lepton decay B   - Calculated through non-perturbative methods, mainly latice QCD - assume SM & V ub known  compare fb with theory

CLAF Summer School 2007 12 r H is the factor you need to multiply the SM BF in order to get the 2HDM BF B is the ratio of the two vaccuum expectation states of the 2 higgs doublets and is NOT the angle in the UT
