4 Hospital Paid Staff Paid Time Off (PTO) – used for both vacation and sick Accruals13.33 hours per month – at hire 17.33 hours at 5 years 21.33 hours at 10 years Can accrue up to 18 months worth of time Must have accrued time available to take time off Timekeepers: Rebecca Roberts (all MSI Staff) Lisa Brown (Traverwood & Point of Care)

5 Medical School Paid Staff E-mail notification to employee/temporary employee Timekeeper: Peggy Otto Due dates for time sheets Required supervisory signatures Vacation accruals: First 5 years of service – 8 hours per month – maximum accrual is 192 hours Over 5 years through 8 years – 12 hours per month – maximum accrual is 288 hours Over 8 years of service – 16 hours per month – maximum accrual is 384 hours Maximum accrual is twice your annual accrual rate Sick accrual: 120 hours of sick time – pro-rated based on appointment

13 ▪FMLA Benefit year/Letter ▪Based on date of hire Example: If an employee’s date of hire is June 6, the employee’s FMLA benefit year is June 6 through June 5 of the following calendar year. If the employee’s date of hire is June 6, 2001 and the FMLA qualifying event occurs on February 17, 2006, the employee’s current FMLA benefit year would be June 6, 2005 to June 5, 2006. ▪Benefit Continuation FMLA (cont.)

14 Emergency Closure Whee!!!! Snow time!!!! Only determined by University Administration Staff who are required to work and do work ….receive their regular compensation in addition to PTO or vacation added to their accrual in the amount of time actually worked Staff who do not work will receive regular compensation for no more than two days. Decisions to allow staff members to leave work early in a developing severe weather or other situation is the responsibility of the employing department.

15 To qualify for support under this program: ▪Must be in a 50% appointment or more ▪Must be employed for 6 months minimum ▪Must complete course with C or better for undergraduate – B for graduate Reimbursement limits and supporting requirements: ▪UM Courses – 75% of cost of in-state tuition for up to 4 credit hours per term.
