Updates: Misalignment, Statistics David Forrest (Happy new year)

Misalignment - The 10 pi question (20% cooling beyond whats expected) - sought to rectify by using Chris' Analysis code to insert a covariance matrix as the start of an optimal beam rather than use the Matcher here - can use this code to produce my beam after some initial problems (my geometry files got mangled somehow) - However not quite there yet with this solution (see next slide)

Misalignment Study - Have had some problems (local tech failures outside MICE) with grid storage and ganga job processing in last few weeks. Have helped to overcome these. - I mean to present a misalignment study comprised of examples of undeviated beams with plus and minus misalignments on the same graph as that unmisaligned beam. I mean to do this with the same seeds so that ignoring cuts, the effect of misalignment should be isolated from the effect of statistics. I think this is the only way you can hope to say anything sensible about it.

Statistics Am prioritising it like Misalignment, Database and then Statistics at the moment. Assume that error on fractional emittance goes with 1 over sqrt(N), where N is the number of events. Will aim to plot for K the constant of proportionality between the sigma on fractional emittance change and N. Should get K for a range of beams. Side note: Hope to present news of first successful reconstruction of some element of a MICE geometry in G4MICE from database, something that may be of interest to Analysis people as time goes on.

Appendix The oft delayed note on grid jobs is virtually done. If nothing else I will get this done on the plane. Just need to check the syntax, some of which has changed. Will be issued between 11 th and 22nd!
