Tile-Fiber Optimization Vishnu V. Zutshi
2
Introduction Based on my conversations with Sasha and Manuel We already have intimations of tile-fiber system optimization Need to systematically carry out further measurements to codify this knowledge This is a first attempt to compile these tests so that we can plan appropriately
3
Scintillator Type: Bicron Eljen Extruded Shape: square and hexagonal Thickness 3, 4 and 5 mm
4
Groove Shape: Sigma Straight Others Depth: 1, 1.5 and 2 mm
5
Fiber Type: Bicron, Kurraray Diameter: 0.7 – 0.9 mm Shape: circular and square Contact: glue, air …… Are we interested in red fibers?
6
A suggested course….. Find optimum groove depth: 1 mm depth (3 cells) +1.5 mm depth (3 cells) +2.0 mm depth (3 cells) +2.5 mm depth (3 cells) (groove shape is optional but preferably straight)
7
A suggested course …. Using optimum groove depth: 5mm hexagonal with sigma groove (5 cells) +5mm square with sigma groove (5 cells) +5mm --- with ‘other’ groove (5 cells) +4mm --- with --- groove (5 cells) +3mm --- with --- groove (5 cells)
8
A suggested course … Begin fiber studies (course less clear as it most probably involves ordering) Within sample spread is an issue in this study (do we wrap instead of paint ?) We most likely also want to get an idea of the light output for 6 and 12 cm 2 cells Whatever I have left out ……
