Have you ever wished for a pet? Think about what it would be like to own a pet. How would you feel? What would you do if your pet ever ran away? How would you feel then?
4
Well, in Pepper’s Adventure, Sarah’s dad gives her two pet mice. But one of her mice, Pepper, ran away. You are going to read about Pepper’s adventure and how Sarah felt when Pepper ran away. You will also read if Pepper ever comes home!
5
Before you read this book, please click the picture of Clifford at the bottom of the page. You will be matching words with the same sounds. Have fun!
6
Now, I want you to think about having a pet. What are some things that you need to do to take care of a pet? Click here to write down your answers. Remember to do your best spelling!
7
Please read the book, Pepper’s Adventure. While you read, think about how you would feel if you were Sarah.

Now that you have read the book, we are going to practice sequencing the story. You are going to make a “FLIP BOOK.” You are going to write the important parts of the story in order. When you are finished, your “flip book” will be a summary! Read the next slide for directions on how to make your flip book.
9
1.Pick a piece of construction paper (any color). 2.Hold the paper so the short ends are by your left and right hands. 3.Fold the paper from BOTTOM to TOP (like a hot dog bun). 4.Now flip your paper, so the fold is on top (away from you). 5.Next, use the tracer to draw four lines on the top fold. This is where you will cut the paper. Cut on the lines that you drew. Continued on next slide.
10
5.Label the top parts of your FLIP BOOK so they look like the picture: First,Then,After that, Finally, 6.Then write what happened first under the FIRST flip. Then write what happen next under the THEN flip. Then write what happened after that under the AFTER THAT flip. Finally, write what happened at the end under the FINALLY flip. Please remember to use your best spelling.

Pretend that you are Sarah. You could make a poster of Pepper to hang up around your neighborhood. Design a poster for PEPPER. You should include: 1. His name. 2. A picture of him (You have to draw Pepper). 3. Your name 4. Your address (We will use the school’s address.) 69 Linden Street Plainville, CT 06062 5. Your telephone number (We will use the school’s telephone number.) 793-3270 6. You can include anything else you think is important!
12
I did my best spelling. I drew a picture of Pepper. I wrote my name, address, and phone number on the poster. I wrote Pepper’s name on the poster. I colored the picture neatly, and I wrote my information neatly.
13
You have finished the project! I’m proud of you!
