1 Assumption of Mary 15 Aug 2004

2 GREETING In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. And also with you.

3 Penitential Rite My brothers and sisters, to prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries, let us call to mind our sins. I confess to almighty God, and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have sinned through my own fault,

4 in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done, and in what I have failed to do; and I ask blessed Mary, ever virgin, all the angels and saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.

5 May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life.
Amen.

6 Opening Prayer Let us pray All powerful and ever-living God, you raised the sinless Virgin Mary, mother of your Son, body and soul to the glory of heaven. May we see heaven as our final goal and come to share her glory. Amen

7 God’s temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his
Liturgy of the Word First Reading (Revelation 11:19; 12:1-6, 10) God’s temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant was seen within his temple; and there were flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of

8 thunder, an earthquake, and
heavy hail. A great portent appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. She was pregnant and was crying out in birth pangs, in the agony of

9 giving birth. Then another
portent appeared in heaven: a great red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads. His tail swept down a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. Then the dragon stood before the woman who was

10 about to bear a child, so that he
might devour her child as soon as it was born. And she gave birth to a son, a male child, who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron. But her child was snatched away and taken to God and to his throne; and the woman fled into the wilderness,

11 where she has a place prepared
by God, so that there she can be nourished for one thousand two hundred and sixty days. Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, proclaiming, ‘Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of

12 his Messiah, for the accuser of
our comrades has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.

13 The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

14 Responsorial Psalm R. The queen stands at your right hand arrayed in gold. Daughters of kings are among your ladies of honour; at your right hand stands the queen in gold of Ophir. Hear, O daughter, consider and incline your ear; forget your people and your father’s house.

15 R. The queen stands at your right
hand arrayed in gold. The king will desire your beauty. Since he us your lord, bow to him.The princess is decked with golden robes;in many coloured robes she is led to the king; behind her the virgins, her companions, follow.

16 R. The queen stands at your right
hand arrayed in gold. \ With joy and gladness they are led along as they enter the palace of the king. I will cause your name to be celebrated in all generations; therefore the peoples will praise you forever.

17 Second Reading (1 Corinthians 15:20-26) Brothers and sisters, Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have died. For since death came through a human being, the resurrection of the dead has

18 also come through a human
being; for as all die in Adam, so all will be made alive in Christ. But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ. Then comes the end, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father,

19 after he has destroyed every
ruler and every authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death.

20 The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

21 GOSPEL The Lord be with you. And also with you. A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke. Glory to you Lord.

22 Mary set out and went with haste
to a Judean town in the hill country, where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the child leapt in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and exclaimed with a loud cry, ‘Blessed are you among women,

23 and blessed is the fruit of your
womb. And why has this happened to me, that the mother of my Lord comes to me? For as soon as I heard the sound of your greeting, the child in my womb leapt for joy. And blessed is she who believed that there

24 would be a fulfilment of what was
spoken to her by the Lord.’ And Mary said, ‘My soul magnifies the Lord,and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour, for he has looked with favour on the lowliness of his servant. Surely, from now on all generations will call me blessed;

25 for the Mighty One has done
great things for me,and holy is his name. His mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation. He has shown strength with his arm;he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts. He has brought down the

26 powerful from their thrones, and
lifted up the lowly; he has filled the hungry with good things, and sent the rich away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy, according to the promise he made to our ancestors, to Abraham and to his descendants for ever.’

27 And Mary remained with her for
about three months and then returned to her home.

28 The gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

29 Homily

30 Profession of Faith We believe in One God, the Father, the almighty, maker of heaven and earth of all that is seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father

31 God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in being with the Father, Through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven;

32 by the power of the Holy Spirit
he was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered, died and was buried. On the third day He rose again in fulfillment of the Scriptures;

33 He ascended into Heaven and
is seated at the Right Hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,

34 who proceeds from the Father
and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.

35 We look for the resurrection of
the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

36 Prayer of the Faithful R. Lord, hear our prayer. For humility and peace in countries torn by war and poverty, we pray to the Lord: R. Lord, hear our prayer.

37 For justice and peace in
countries torn by war and poverty, we pray to the Lord: R. Lord, hear our prayer.

38 For the hungry, we pray to
the Lord: R. Lord, hear our prayer.

39 For openness to the Holy Spirit
in this community of faith, we pray to the Lord: R. Lord, hear our prayer.

40 Offertory Song

41 Liturgy of the Eucharist
Pray, my brothers and sisters, that our sacrifice may be acceptable to God, the almighty Father.

42 May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of his name, for our good, and the good of all his Church.

43 Prayer over the gifts Lord, receive this offering of our service. You raised the Virgin Mary to the Glory of heaven. By her prayers, help us to seek you and to live in your love. Amen.

44 The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give him thanks and praise.

45 PREFACE Father, all-powerful and ever- living God, we do well always and everywhere to give you thanks through Jesus Christ our Lord. Today the virgin Mother of God was taken up into heaven to be the beginning and the pattern of

46 the Church in its perfection, and
a sign of hope and comfort for your people on their pilgrim way. You would not allow decay to touch her body, for she had given birth to your Son, the Lord of all life in the glory of the incarnation. In our joy we sing to your glory with all the choirs of angles:

47 Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of
power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

48 Eucharistic Prayer II Invocation of the Holy Spirit Lord, you are holy indeed, the fountain of all holiness. Let your Spirit come upon these gifts to make them holy, so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

49 The Lord’ Supper Before he was given up to death, a death he freely accepted, he took bread and gave you thanks. He broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, and said:

50 “Take this, all of you, and eat it:
this is my body which will be given up for you.”

51 When supper was ended, he
took the cup. Again he gave you thanks and praise, gave the cup to his disciples, and said:

52 “Take this, all of you, and drink
from it, this is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant. It will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in memory of me.”

53 Let us proclaim the mystery of
faith: When we eat this bread, When we drink this cup, We proclaim your glory Until you come again.

54 In memory of his death and
resurrection, we offer you, Father, this life-giving bread, this saving cup. We thank you for counting us worthy to stand in your presence and serve you. May all of us who share in the body and blood of Christ be brought together in unity by the Holy Spirit.

55 For the Church Lord, remember your Church throughout the world; make us grow in love, together with our pope - John Paul II. Our bishop - Joseph Zen, John Tong, and all the clergy.

56 For the dead Remember our brothers and sisters who have gone to their rest in the hope of rising again; bring them and all the departed into the light of your presence.

57 In communion with the saints
Have mercy on us all; make us worthy to share eternal life with Mary, the virgin Mother of God with the apostles, and with all the saints who have done your will throughout the ages. May we praise you in union with them, and give you glory through your Son, Jesus Christ.

58 In praise of God Through him, with him, in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit all glory and honor is yours almighty Father for ever and ever. Amen

59 COMMUNION RITE Lord’s prayer Let us pray with confidence to the Father in the words our Savior gave us.

60 Our Father who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

61 Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us. Lord from every evil and grant us peace in our day.

62 In your mercy keep us free from
sin and protect us from all anxiety as we wait in joyful hope for the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and for ever.

63 Sign of Peace Lord Jesus Christ, you said to your apostles: I leave you peace, my peace I give you. Look not only our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and grant us the peace and unity of your kingdom where you live for ever and ever. Amen

64 The peace of the Lord be with
you always. And also with you. Let us offer each other the sign of peace.

65 Lamb of God…

66 Communion This is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Happy are those who are called to his supper. Lord, I am not worthy to receive you, but only say the word and I shall be healed.

67 Communion Antiphon All generations will call me blessed, for the Almighty has done great things for me.

68 Pray After Communion Lord, may we who receive this sacrament of salvation be led to the glory of heaven by the prayers of the Virgin Mary.

69 Church Notice

70 Prayer for Vocation O heavenly Father, increase the faith of our communities, particularly of those individuals whom you have chose and whom you will choose for your service.
