2
Introduction Objective: Create a spice carousel that uses speech recognition to identify spice locations There are currently no spice carousels on the market that assist the user in locating spices
3
Product There is an ever growing demand for the latest designs and innovative features in every product sought out by consumers Currently things such as Keurig coffeemakers, Magic Bullets, automatic pepper grinders… None measure up to the ingenuity of the automated spice rack. This product will be the first of its kind in bringing organization and convenience to the kitchen.

Design
5
Adapter is used with timer to create an AC signal used by the inductive coupler All components above the inductive coupler will be mounted inside the carousel
6
Requirements Motor is optimally run at 12 volts with 550 rpm. We reduced this to around 3.5 volts to reduce the rpm. Our gear ratio is not set, but we have calculated a feasible range of 150 – 200 rpm Inductive coupler was chosen because of its ability to wirelessly rotate and its overall complexity Hall Effect sensors will be located under each column and a magnet on the base facing front. When the column containing desired spice passes over magnet the motor disengages
7
Adaptability Adding features or upgrades is as easy as adding code and using auxiliary pins on the microcontroller Since all parts are mounted inside the carousel, many different shapes and finishes could be manufactured, the constraint being the turn ratio on the inductive coupler Because the shell can be changed, it is also possible to add stackable rows to customize the height of the columns and therefore the storage capacity
8
Product Risk Speech Recognition – Multiple users with different accents/dialects Jar Identification – The ability to read jars when placed in a new location and updating address Snagging/catching of objects by carousel or personal injury – we will be making the drive gear from nylon. This will ensure the cheap and easily replaceable gear will prevent damage from device faults and personal injury
