2. Born on October 28, 1510 In Gandia, Valencia, Spain Son of Juan Borgia, third Duke of Gandia and Juana of Aragon

3. As a child, he was very pious and wished to become a monk but instead, he was sent to the court of Emperor Charles V. Married Eleanor de Castro on September 1526 in Madrid and had 8 children

4. Became the Duke of Gandia at the age of 33 in 1543. In 1546, his wife died and his happy life ended Was determined to join the Society of Jesus Gave up his dukedom to become a Jesuit Priest

5. Became the Jesuits’ commissary-general in Spain in 1554 And the third Father General or Superior General of the Society of Jesus in 1556

6. Found the Collegium Romanum which became the Gregorian University that sent missionaries all over the world Died on September 30, 1572

7. Canonized on June 20, 1670 by Pope Clement X Feast Day is celebrated every October 10
