Smart Structures for Smart Systems, S 2 4 S 2 Individualized/small series smart products with physical and IOT capabilities for e.g.:  Automotive,  Medical  Consumer  … 2

Smart Structures for Smart Systems, S 2 4 S 2 Functional physical structures serve as carrier for smart electronic functions 3

4 Customization starting at single item level Less material consumptionNo or limited transportation cost No overproductionMaximum flexibility Production on demandAbility to make complex 3D shapes for increased functionality Low start-up costsBy integrating components and functionalities through additive manufacturing at module level total costs will be reduced. Low process energy consumption

Research Domain and ASP indication 6  Smart, sustainable and integrated production  Smart Industry  Semiconductor Process, Equipment, and Materials  Cyber-physical systems  Smart systems integration  …

Market innovation and impact  Competitative production of single item to small series IOT products  Individualised smart products (consumer, medical) electronics360.globalspec.com

Brief description of the project idea Develop a flexible hybrid manufacturing capability with Additive Manufacturing ((3D) printing) as core production technology, accompanied by assembly and integration of third (electronic) parts. Test and quality monitoring must be part of the complete production chain. Using the functional physical product structure as the carrier for the smart electronics system will render a cost effective solution for individualized (small series) IOT products 8
