7 Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System
Compressed Gas (Class A) Any product, material or substance contained under pressure including compressed gas, dissolved gas or gas liquified by compression or refrigeration.

8 Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System
Flammable and Combustible Material (Class B) Flammable Gases Flammable Liquids Combustible Liquids Flammable Solids Flammable Aerosols Reactive Flammable Materials

9 Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System
Oxidizing Materials (Class C) Any product, material or substance which: a. Causes or contributes to the combustion of another material by yielding oxygen or any other oxidizing substance, whether or not the product, material or substance is itself combustible. b. An organic peroxide

10 Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System
Poisonous and Infectious Material (Class D) 1. Materials causing immediate and serious toxic effects Products which are potentially fatal or may cause permanent damage very quickly if inhaled, swallowed or absorbed through the skin, and may burn skin or eyes upon contact

11 Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System
Poisonous and Infectious Material (Class D) 2 Materials causing other toxic effects Products which may cause death or permanent damage as a result of repeated exposure, over time; may be skin, eye, or respiratory irritant may be a sensitizer; may cause cancer; may cause birth defects or sterility

12 Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System
Poisonous and Infectious Material (Class D) 3. Biohazardous Infectious Materials Products which may cause diseases in humans and animals, such as viruses, bacteria, and fungi. Also, cultures and diagnostic specimens, such as blood, urine and body tissue, can contain such organisms.

13 Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System
Corrosive Material (Class E) Products which: a) Corrode aluminum and steel or skin under specified test conditions b) Anhydrous corrosive gases

14 Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System
Dangerously Reactive Materials (Class F) Products which: Undergo vigorous polymerization, decomposition, or condensation Become self-reactive under conditions of shock or increase in pressure or temperature React vigorously with water to produce a very toxic gas

15 Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System
Routes of Entry 1 Inhalation 2 Skin Contact 3. Ingestion 4. Eye Contact
