2 Aim of Module To enable students to understand computer systems and apply theoretical knowledge to practical application when building, configuring and maintaining computer systems.

3 Learning outcomes of module:
Students should : 1. Understand the functions of computer systems 2. Be able to design computer systems 3. Be able to build and configure computer systems 4. Be able to undertake routine maintenance on computer systems

4 Module topics to be covered:
Unit 1: Introduction to Computer Systems Unit 2: System Components Unit 3: System Installation Unit 4: System Configuration Unit 5: System Testing Unit 6: System Maintenance and Upgrade

5 Lectures Each week has four compulsory lecture hours for all students.
You will be required to complete a number of exercises and activities in class. These activities and exercises may also contribute to obtaining a pass, therefore, it is important that you are always present in class. Activity/work sheets that are submitted should be kept by the lecturer so that they can be used as proof of criteria that were met, if necessary.

Semester Test – 10% Continuous Assessment – 10% Initial Examination – 50% Supplementary Examination – 50%
