Moving forward it is important to consult with stakeholders including commissioners, receivers and users of the service, including school and parental engagement at a strategic level. 10 www.hertsdirect.org/dspl Examples of Primary Support Base work IN SCHOOL  Primary bases work around individual child level, and may be involved for up to three terms, Following active involvement they may offer a monitoring visit to ensure intervention and ongoing strategies are working well (number of active individual pupil pieces of work vary from base to base).  Bases also offer school focused consultation sessions where the school bring issues or questions for exploration with staff from SpLD base.

11 www.hertsdirect.org/dspl Range of work  Bases also offer networking sessions for SENCos / INCos which may be held on a termly basis where local information and good practice is shared.  Training sessions offered:  may be in the form of hosting sessions run by guest speakers from within or outside the authority (eg “Differentiation in the Primary Classroom”)  may be run by Base Team staff on areas such as improving classroom support skills, where there may or may not be a nominal charge for attendance.

Its aim has been to improve the knowledge, understanding and skills of schools and staff working with pupils with SpLD and literacy/numeracy difficulties.
