2 Teacher Professionalism and Well-Being Welcome! The National Induction Programme for Teachers would like to welcome all NQTs to the workshop programme 2014-2015 Be assured of our support throughout the year ahead

3 Teacher Professionalism and Well-Being Workshop Programme (2014-2015) Teaching Council Requirement To complete 20 hours of CPD over 3 years -By attending evening workshops at the local Education Centre -By attending a non-teaching day - 2 cross-sectoral workshops – Child Protection and Inclusion at local EC level -For NQTs in Droichead schools or NQTs in schools with trained mentors some of the CPD requirement can be fulfilled at school level

4 Teacher Professionalism and Well-Being Workshop Programme Requirements Attendance Sign in on official EC attendance form Ensure that you record your Teaching Council number accurately Ensure that your name is legible and is the same name as recorded with the TC Maintain your own personal record of workshops attended Attendance at 10 different workshops over a three year period Punctuality Sign-in will close 10 minutes after workshop begins. Each workshop is a full two–hour session - if you are late, you are welcome to stay but your attendance is not counted. If you leave early your attendance is not counted.

6 Teacher Professionalism and Well-Being Elements of the Programme www.teacherinduction.ie A source of support and information throughout the year A series of workshops at local Education Centre level with a practical classroom focus Provided by the school principal, mentor and other school staff School visits can be arranged to support NQTs, Mentors and whole school CPD, Additional support in small group settings in the areas of Numeracy and Literacy, Planning and Assessment, Multi- grade and Resource teaching Phone and Email support are also available School- Based Support Professional Support Groups School Support Service Workshop Programme Website Support

13 Teacher Professionalism and Well-Being Teaching Council Code of Professional Conduct 1.The Code of Professional Conduct for Teachers applies to all registered teachers and has an important legal standing. 2.The Code sets out the ethical foundation for the teaching profession and is encapsulated in the values of Respect, Care, Integrity and Trust. 3.The standards set out in the Code identify teachers’ professional responsibilities under six headings: values and relationships, integrity, conduct, practice, professional development, collegiality and collaboration.
