MP530 Maintenance

General Description The MP530 maritime computer is used in a wide range of Operator Stations (OSs) produced by Kongsberg Maritime. The computer can be installed inside operator station consoles by using specific mounting brackets. The OS and process station application software is stored on the MP530 hard disk. The MP530 is built running the Microsoft Windows Xp or NT 4.0 operating systems.

MP530 - How to disassemble Turn off the 230 Vac breakers (Q1 and Q2) Disconnect all the cables from the rear Place the MP530 cabinet on a firm surface

Replace the CD-RW or the floppy drive Disconnect all the cables from the drive Release the drives as shown

Replace the faulty unit Set any jumper of the new drive as the old one (only for CD-RW unit) Reassembly Verify the drive operation Replace the CD-RW or the floppy drive

Replace the Hard Disk drive Disconnect the data cable and power connector from the drive Data Cable Power Connector

Replace the Hard Disk drive Unlock the drive as shown in figure

Replace the Hard Disk drive Check that the spare drive is compatible with the MP530. 2.5” HDD with adapter

Replace the Hard Disk drive Check that the spare drive is compatible with the MP530. 3.5” HDD low profile

Replace the Hard Disk drive Always check the right interface on the motherboard: SATA Interface IDE Interface

Replace the Hard Disk drive Set the jumper as the old drive (only for IDE interface)

Fault location/identification If an error situation has occurred, the fault is normally identified from the symptoms observed. It is therefore important to record all these observations to help the maintenance person or service engineer. All error messages shown on the screen should be logged from this purpose.

IDSYMPTOMSPROBABLE ERROR SOURCE CORRECTIVE ACTION 1No visible or audible sign of power present at MP530. Fans are not blowing. External supply voltage is turned off or circuitbreaker fuse has tripped. Internal power supply defect. Check the 115/230 VAC power supply. 2Applications are not loading when booting the MP530. Only blue screen displayed. Defective file system.Reinstall the software by using the system backup CD. 3Applications are not loading when booting after the entire operating system software has been installed on MP530. Only blue screen displayed. Defective hard-disk drive.Replace hard disk. 4MP530 does not respond over network on either channel. Network task not running.Reboot MP530. 5MP530 responds over network on only one of tree channels. Defective network card or network part of main board. Replace network card. 6MP530 crashes or hangs unexpectedly. Possible defective RAM.Replace RAM
