2  Before receiving the first You’ve got Mail, Fairytales…  I plan to brainstorm with my student’s different methods of delivering and receiving information.  I will write all of the different answers down on the board for the students to see.  As we are going through the different methods…  I will have a delivery person (FedEx) bring the first delivery to the classroom.  I will then go into lesson one by having the students study the box to see:  Who it is to?  Who it is from?  What they think could be inside the box?  This will create excitement about the beginning of the lesson

17 THE THREE LITTLE PIGS  Day 6  Teacher will…  Bring in a Carrier Pigeon in a cage that has a NOTE tied to its leg.  Play Storynory Podcast of the the 4 th book: The Three Little Pigs.  Read a different cultural version/different point of view of 5 th book: The True Story of the Three Little Pigs  Sequence using a Story Clothes Line. STUDENTS WILL…  Complete a Compare and Contrast Diagram.  Brainstorm.  Have classroom discussion about to Compare and Contrast both stories.  Evaluation: Research paper

19 DAY 7  Students will…  Get an email from Mother Goose as another form of delivery.  Brainstorm about the CLUE left in email.  Follow a treasure map.  Create a map from Hansel and Gretel’s home to the candy house.  Construct a newspaper. STUDENTS WILL…  Teacher will…  Lead students in Questions for brainstorm  Read the Book: Hansel and Gretel  Evaluation: Research paper

20 Students will… ▪ Write a story from the beanstalks point of view. ▪ Create a newspaper using all the fairy tales previously read.

21  This lesson teaches:  Writing  Reporting  Editing  Communicating of information in the public interest..  For Students:  This provides them a natural choice for students pursuing journalism or communications  News Writing is also an excellent resource for improving general writing skills, producing a school or university paper, continuing education for working journalists, or teacher professional development.

22  Students will…  Be able to define homophones.  Be able to give examples of different words that are considered homophones.  Be able to determine if a word is a homophone.  Be able to demonstrate correct usage and spelling of different homophones.

24 THE CONCLUSION  This unit will be concluded by reading The Jolly Postman, which uses many of the Fairy Tales characters from the books we have read.  However, at the conclusion of the You’ve got Mail, Fairytales unit, I plan on introducing different forms of letter writing, the proper way to fill out an envelope, and many fractured Fairy Tales. THE JOLLY POSTMAN OR OTHER PEOPLE’S LETTERS

25  The plan is to introduce the letter writing around Valentine Day and set the classroom up like a post office.  The rows of desks will become streets and the desks will be numbered like houses.  Every student will make out their Valentine Day cards and deliver them to the correct address. UNIT BEGINS ON VALENTINE DAY
