2 McMurdo Dry Valleys McMurdo Dry Valleys (MDVs) are the largest ice free region of Antarctica Feature extensive biological activity during summer melt season Exciting mesoscale meteorological processes! Harbinger of climate change? http://serc.carleton.edu/images/microbelife/topics/Lake_Fryxell_with_reflexion.jpg

3 Polar WRF Simulations Best way to study MDVs at this time: modeling Polar WRF simulations will be run for several applications Extensive modifications needed even to the Polar WRF setup for the MDVs. Needs to be able to capture the two meteorological processes fundamental to MDVs climate. http://hydrosciences.colorado.edu/images/Hydrologic-pics-12_490px.jpg

4 How well can Polar WRF simulate these physical processes, and the meteorology of the MDVs in general? Stop by my poster to find out!
