Faculty Research Summit 2009 SON and SPHIS Let’s Work in Parallel and Create Synergy
University Structure ‘The best career advice to give to the young faculty is: “Find out what you like doing best and get someone to pay you for doing it”.’
Rationale for Summit SPHIS faculty need individuals with clinical expertise. SON faculty need biostatistical support and experts in public health. Combining the skill sets from these two schools is needed and warranted and will enhance our research capabilities.
Summit Goal To accelerate our research and funding Increase our Capabilities Create synergy Discover solutions that lead to greater knowledge
Mechanisms for Achieving Goals Constructing working groups (Today!) Finding out what resources (researchers) exist in our specific topic area (at the other school) Open lines of communication between researchers Target funding mechanisms
Today’s Agenda SON researchers describe their research focus areas and where they could benefit from SPHIS support (1PM-2PM). Statistical Consulting Center discusses their capabilities and assets (2PM-2:15PM ). SPHIS faculty discusses projects that could benefit from SON involvement (2:15PM-3PM ) Breakout sessions for working groups (3PM)
