Make disciples What was Jesus final command? Go and … ? 1)Become a fisher of men – we ourselves must change!  say  are But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. (Acts 1.8) In Acts 2.42-47, we see that the evangelism was happening as a natural result of the life of the Spirit in the new Christian community. 1Following Jesus: Lesson Ten

Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Why don’t we pause now and ask Him to work in us and change us! 2

2)Love your neighbour – the heart of evangelism What is the greatest commandment? Jesus added a second command to that first one. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these. (Mark 12.31) The question is not “Who is my neighbour?” but “Are you willing to become a neighbour?” ccompassion in our hearts – genuine caring mmeeting the need in practical ways aalong the way 3

3) Find the lost sheep – Jesus’ priority and ours! …a glutton and a drunkard, and a friend of the worst sort of sinners. (Matthew 11.19, NLT) Jesus’ love for the lost is beyond explanation. Because of that love, He left heaven to be born a man and ultimately to die for our sin. He wants to put that love in our hearts too, so that we would care about the unsaved as much as He does. 4Following Jesus: Lesson Ten

So what are we going to do? 1) Keep praying for the same heart as Jesus has for the lost. Ask Him to train you to love people and to make disciples. 2) Become a neighbour to those we meet along the way. 3) The greatest place of witness is within our existing network of relationships. Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved – you and your household. (Acts 16.31) 4)Your own experience, or “testimony”, is very powerful. 5) Give people books, tapes or tracts. 5Following Jesus: Lesson Ten

6)Offer to pray with friends or family for specific needs. 7)Invite them to appropriate meetings or events at church. 8)Pray with them to turn to Jesus; then coach them through these studies – make disciples! 6Following Jesus: Lesson Ten

Memory verse Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. (Matthew 28.19-20) 7Following Jesus: Lesson Ten

In conclusion 1) Take a little time to look back through the 10 steps to see if you are really doing what Jesus commanded. 2) Keep up your daily devotions! 3) Are you attending worship meetings weekly, as well as some small group or cell group? 4)Now it is your turn to become a coach. You know these things - now do them! That is the path of blessing. (John 13.17, NLT) 8Following Jesus: Lesson Ten
