2. What is S4L about? S4L hopes to affect lives of students who are at risk of not matriculating into college because of financial restraints. The organization targets students with criminal records and students who are failing out of school. Social Action Projects, Internship/Job Placement, Writing Workshops and Publications serve as means of acquiring financial rewards from Colleges in substitution of government funding which would be denied due to criminal records.

S4L’s Goals Serve 50 students each academic year Help these students acquire at least partial scholarships to a school of their choice Assist in internship/job placement Plan and Execute Social Action projects throughout the semester Work to have each student publish at least one piece of excellently written work Reach out to sponsors and businesses to help financially and/or agree to provide a few spots for students to work paid and non-paid

4. Progress So far S4L has helped a total of 9 students at risk of failing high school since 2010 get summer internships We have acquired the “partnership” of several internship sites Completed 3 Social Action Projects

5. Next Steps Our next steps include creating a partnership with more organizations Gaining more exposure and funding Serving more students with a criminal past
